Tom and Mary Hanson

Artists' Biography

TBH Design Shop jewelry is created by local artists, Tom and Mary Hanson. Their lives intertwine in marriage as well as in the creative outlet of making jewelry. Tom is a silversmith and Mary works in the art of wire wrapping and weaving. They work on projects independently and collaborate often on most aspects of their major pieces. They enjoy the process of creating as much as the actual building of the final product.

They use a broad range of semi precious stones, pearls and shell. They work with sterling silver, PMC (precious metal clay), 14K gold-filled wire, copper and brass to create their one of a kind jewelry. They use these materials to make a broad range of unique earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Mary has been involved in art from a young age, eventually going to art school and presently working in the field of typography. Tom first learned the art of silversmithing in his late teens from his older sister back in the late 1970's. This informal beginning allowed him the freedom to experiment with an assortment of tools and techniques. Their ongoing discovery of texture and finish continues to this day.
